Neck Layout and Positioning the Fretboard With the scarf joint cut and glued, I can now layout the neck and position the fretboard. I establish a center line off the edge I created on the jointer and position my headstock template marking the tuner holes. Then I position the fretboard and drill small holes through the fret slots and use small pins to lock the position in place. The small pins are just tooth picks, and I use 6 of them.
